This week we started learning about Derivatives. I've always heard that Derivatives are really difficult and annoying but at the start when we learning them I realized they aren't as bad as I've heard. Although I know they will get more difficult as we get deeper into them and take the Derivatives of different things but the basic idea isn't too hard to understand. They are annoying due to the fact that they take so much calculating and simplifying to complete. It seems so simple of a thing to do at first but then you start getting into it and the next thing you know you have taken up a whole page of paper with work. The most important thing we learned, which is really the basis of learning Derivatives, was the 4 step process:
1. Find f(x+h)
2. Write f(x+h)-f(x) and simplify
3. Write f(x+h)-f(x)
h
4. Take lim f(x+h)-f(x)
h→0 h
This is the main thing you need to know when finding Derivatives. Again it looks like a pretty simple set of steps to complete but when you actually get an equation and have to do these things to it, it turns into a page's worth of work. I feel pretty good going forward into Derivatives I think I just need more practice finding them and I will be all good. BOO
